Topic:Why are our graveyards filled with rainbows?

Participants will learn how to work effectively with LGBTQIA+ individuals regardless of personal beliefs to reduce risk of suicide. Participants will learn advanced terms and definitions relating to lived experiences of members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Participants will learn about the diversity of experiences of discrimination and other adverse life events LGBTQIA+ people face.

This session will answer questions about LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences and will provide tools for intervention that help instead of hurt. Presenter will share honest examples of what to do and what not to do as allies and helping professionals working with LGBTQIA+ folx.

This training will provide two hours of suicide prevention CEUs. The training is free for NASW members and $10 for non-members.
