Who we are

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest organization of professional social workers in the world. Ninety percent of our nearly 145,000 members hold master’s degrees in social work. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.

We are the only collective voice on behalf of professional social work, including wages, safety, loan forgiveness, licensing regulations and professional standards, ethics and employment. Membership in NASW empowers social workers.

We are also dedicated to helping social work students and those new to the profession. NASW is affiliated with schools of social work all across the country. Our Student Center  is a great resource for everything from learning more about the profession to finding scholarship money. Under our career center you’ll find professional development and training programs, job opportunities and more. You’ll get all of this and then some with our special discounted Student Membership.
